Orkid does not live with his parents but with his grandmother. His parents are divorced.  His mom has been married three times, and Orkid is her first child from her initial marriage. Living in challenging economic circumstances, Orkid's grandma was the first in their neighborhood to open her doors to the church meetings when there was no room available for rent.
