Pratiksha is the oldest of 6 sisters. She and two of her sisters were born in India and her other three sisters were born in Nepal, which is where they are all living now. Her father, Purna Bahadur and mother, Sarmila, desired greatly to have a son but after trying for 14 years and having 6 daughters, Sarmila died of fever and pneumonia due to lack of medical treatment, leaving Purna to take care of all 6 little girls. Pratiksha’s sisters are Bhawana age 11, Sandhya age 8, Chandrakala age 7, Pari age 4 and Manika age 1. She helps her father take care of her younger sisters, but they are very poor and without a house or fields to plant in, so food is very scarce. Her father works in other’s fields for scraps much more like a slave with little to no pay. His mental health has greatly declined since the death of his wife 2 months ago. Because of their extreme poverty and dyer situation, Pratiksha and her sisters are vulnerable to being taken by child traffickers. Our ministry partners in Nepal would be able to provide these precious girls with food, clothes, education and good home for a sponsorship of just $40 a month per girl.
